MINUTES OF THE REGULAR BOARD MEETING
Chevelon Butte School Building
June 18, 2005
The June meeting of the Forest Lakes
Owner’s Association was called to order at 2:05 PM by President Frank
Astemborski. He then led us in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.
Wendell Lolling then read the minutes for
the meeting of May 2005. They were corrected and approved by the board.
Jane Cummins then gave the treasurer’s
report. The Stockmen’s bank had a balance of
$29,080.62. The National Bank of Arizona had a balance of $54,935.56. The
treasurer’s report was approved by the board.
Virgilee Scholl reported that we
currently have a membership total of 569. She also indicated that the
deadline for articles for the newsletter is July 15, 2005. She welcomes
any articles that the membership would like to submit.
Frank indicated that we need three new
members to be added to the board. Mack Hume will be in charge of the
election. All interested Forest Lakes Ownership Members are encouraged to
run. Anyone interested should submit their name to Mack Hume and a
biography should be given to Virgilee Scholl to be printed in the
Newsletter.
Andrea Saffles will be handling the
Community Citizen’s Award.
A report on the Memorial Day Breakfast
indicated that we served 636 people. It was a huge success. As a
result FLOA and the Fire Department Auxilliary each netted a figure of
$1361.00.
Gene Jeardoe gave a report on the highway
cleanup. It was completed on Tuesday, June 7, 2005. A number of volunteers
assisted with the cleanup.
Frank reported that Dustrol will be used
on the main roads for the picnic. This should keep down a little of the
dust. He further indicated that he would talk to the county regarding the
placement of speed bumps to control the speed of some of the traffic.
There will be a community dump day on
July 10th. All household items to be disposed of should be taken to County
Yard.
A discussion was held concerning the 4th
of July picnic, which will be on Saturday July 2, 2005. We will be doing
the setup for the picnic on Friday July 1st. All volunteers to help with
this will be welcomed.
Jan Walls gave a report on the Auxiliary.
She further reported on the pancake breakfast and thanked everyone who
volunteered to help. She stated that there will be sweatshirts available
for sale at the 4th of July picnic. She said that storage sheds have been
purchased for the storage of school records and also for auxiliary items
for sale.
Jan gave a report on the school board and
indicated that the new school bus should arrive in July, hopefully. The
school district budget has been published in the Pine Graphics. The tax
rate for next year will be reduced slightly.
Frank stated that he has been in touch
with Kate Klein, of the Forest Service and she stated that they had
received approval to start clearing on the south side of 260.
There being no further business the
meeting was adjourned at 2:59 PM
Pete Davis, our County Sheriff then spoke
on the happenings around Forest Lakes. He stated that the county had
applied for an additional officer for our area. They will send an
additional officer on busy weekends. He introduced Bill Walters, a
volunteer with the sheriff’s office.
Charlie McGee, our Fire Chief gave a
report on the thinning process to take place . He also reported on the new
site, known as the Green Waste Site that is open for disposal of various
trees, limbs, pine needles etc. He thought it would be open on Mondays
through Saturdays from 8AM to 4 PM. Further information will follow.
